HOW LOVELY IS STRATFORD UPON AVON

Saturday - a sunny day - Stratford Food Festival - fabulous!
The town was packed full of people. The farmers market in Bridge Street. The Food Festival on the recreation ground. It was glorious.
I'm so glad I live in Stratford-upon-Avon - best place to be.

ENERGY OPEN SPACE MEETING

Hi folks - it's been a while but have been busy. Just wanted to let you know about a really important discussion taking place on Saturday 3rd October from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stratford upon Avon Town Hall.
Powering Stratford - how can we work together to power Stratford beyond energy?
With the earth's climate changing as a result of carbon emissions, we need to find ways to reduce the demand for energy and our reliance on fossil fuels as energy sources. Rising energy prices pose a challenge for those on low incomes, as well as for businesses which have taken low energy costs for granted. You can help decide the key issues for group discussions when everyone will be able to contribute their ideas. No lectures and no presentations. Just your ideas and planning for local energy initiatives.
Refreshments available throughout the morning. No entry fee.
Go to Transition Stratford for more information. Visit their website - www.transitionstratford.com.
Will be in touch. Kate

VASA!!

Hi everyone - ever heard of VASA - it means Voluntary Action Stratford on Avon District. They are basically the hub of the volunteer network for Stratford District and what a fantastic job they do. They provide volunteer drivers to take people to hospital and to day care centres. They operate a wheelchair loan scheme. They provide volunteers for the Stratford Hospital coffee shop and have just recently set up a volunteer service to tidy up gardens and provide gardening help to the elderly. What a great organisation. Visited The Childrens Centre this evening on Drayton Avenue. Another great set up. The things I have learnt since becoming a County Councillor! If any of you Mums and Dads have any issues around parenting or simply want to meet other parents this is the place to go. The door is always open. Pop in from 9.30 - 4.30 and have a cuppa - great atmosphere and really welcoming. I so wish this kind of establishment was available when my kids were little. Will be in touch. Kate

LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS

Wow that was amazing! Not many people know the second verse to 'God Save The Queen' though! Shall I now tell my husband that Arsenal lost to Manchester City or let him watch Match of the Day and suffer! I'll think about that one. Will be in touch. Kate

PLUM JAM

A discussion about dog bins with a neighbour, a long conversation about the proposed Waitrose supermarket with a concerned resident, a shopping expedition with one of my ladies I look after and 7 jars of homemade plum jam - not bad for a Saturday! Looking forward to Sunday. Will be in touch. Kate

STOP SHORT CHANGING OUR TROOPS

Hello again. Did you know that many of our soldiers fighting in Afghanistan are earning less than £17,000 a year. That's less than a trainee policeman or firefighter. If you think our troops should receive better pay back the campaign by going to NickClegg.com/ArmedForcesPay. Will be in touch. Kate

Football and Christmas!!

Dont blog for weeks and here's the second one in the space of half an hour. Football on TV in August is just not right! Dont get me wrong I like football and in fact support a well known London team but cant they just wait until all the kids have gone back to school before Match of the Day starts and Match of the Day 2 (Sunday). Am I also the only person who gets really annoyed with supermarkets who start selling Christmas cards and selection boxes in early September? A selection box in my house wouldnt last a day let alone until Christmas! Will be in touch. Kate
